My Professional History

I attended James Cook University from 2011 - 2016, completing my medical degree between Townsville (years 1-4) and Mackay (years 5-6) and obtaining my MBBS.

I initially was sent to Mackay in Medical School in 2015, but I fell for Mackay's charm and built my life here and as such have not left.

In 2017 and 2018, I spent my first two post graduate years working in many fields at the Mackay Base Hospital, including obstetrics & gynaecology, paediatrics, psychiatry, general medicine and general surgery.

Realising my love of General Medicine, continuity of care, and building a relationship with the community, I left the hospital system in 2019 and worked towards my fellowship, specializing as a General Practitioner in 2021 with the RACGP.

What I'm Doing Now

I have a particular interest in Women's Health (Obs & Gynae - from family planning, pregnancy management, menopause, periods, contraception and everything in-between) and Children's Health, alongside preventative medicine, skin cancer medicine, lifestyle medicine, and chronic disease care.

I have done further studies in skin cancer medicine, family planning, and have plans to be able to provide mirena insertions in the next year.

I am the Academic Advisor for James Cook University (years 5 & 6) here in Mackay, and have also taught Medical Students (fourth years) weekly, thoroughly enjoy my teaching and academic roles. I also often have a medical student (fifth year) with me during appointments.

I am a Medical Educator for RACGP General Practitioner Registrars.

Since 2020 I have been creating free educational content on both YouTube and Instagram, as "Dr Kris Eliza",  which I do in my "free" time - though where I find said "free time" remains a mystery!

My interests outside of medicine vary just as much as my interests within Medicine, and I keep busy these days chasing after my very busy toddler!
